Dear Reader,
We woke up this morning to a beautiful blanket of snow and news of a snow day for my dear son. After a winter with very few snowfalls, my son is so excited for the opportunity to get outside and play. So fun!
My shop is being featured on a fabulous blog today Simple Organized Living, and there will be a giveaway of my blocks to three winners. I am honored by Andrea's kind words about the blocks. Please consider checking out her post!
Happy Friday, friends! Have a lovely weekend!

Quick Shop Update
Dear Reader,
Each day seems quite full right now, and I'm certain that I am not alone in feeling this way! I am planning to close the shop on Friday, December 16 until after the holidays. If you have an interest in blocks for now or early in the New Year, please consider a set this week. Also, I've added the promo code of THANKS15 to take 15% off your purchase. Enjoy!
I am grateful for the opportunities to also have my blocks in two local shops - Minty Keen in Grand Rapids and DreamSpun in Ada. Both places have such a lovely selection of items to round out some Christmas shopping!

Shop Restocked + Coupon Code
Dear Reader,
I hope you are having a lovely start to your week! I think the next days will go by quite quickly in anticipation of Thanksgiving. We have the pleasure of being hosted by my husband's parents at noon and my parents in the evening - definitely shaping up to be a lovely holiday! I'm looking forward to time spent together with family and time to relax with my husband and son.
You may have noticed that the shop is filling up a bit more than in the past months. And along with a restocked shop, I have added a coupon code good for 15% off effective now through November 28: THANKS15
I am looking forward to this week and a time to pause and give thanks for the many gifts in my life. Indeed this has been a year to remember.

October Shop Update
Dear Reader,
I hope you are having a good week, and how is October going for you? The start of autumn seems to be scooting by so very quickly. My son started preschool a few weeks ago, and much of my attention has been focused on this transition. He's enjoying school, and I am so grateful to report that news!
My spare moments lately have mostly been invested in making blocks...
I am pleased let you know that you may find block sets at Dreamspun in Ada. Please check out this lovely shop with adorable items for children!
Preparations are coming together for me to participate in a fall arts and crafts fest in early November. More details to follow!
My basement counter top looks like this:
And I am having so much fun!
Happy Wednesday!

Shop Updates and Picking out a Pattern
Dear Reader,
As you may have noticed by now, I added two new sets of blocks to the shop this past weekend. The number and bike patterned blocks and the red flower patterned blocks both make me anxious for warmer temps to enjoy life outside soon!
I am finishing up a custom set of blocks, which has been a fun project, and I'm working on a set of blocks for my dear three and a half year old. He received my very first version of blocks prepared, and let's just say that my skills at block-making have improved in the past few years! My issue with getting a set ready for him is that my son keeps changing his mind on a pattern. Bikes. Rockets. Bikes with rockets on them. Owls. Dinosaurs. Race cars. I'm not sure when I'll have the final answer from him.
He loves the blocks that I make and always wants to "fix" them when I'm taking photos to try to match all of the patterns. He's also my second shooter for taking pictures of the sets, which makes it fun for both of us. Between my husband's work on cutting the blocks and my son's photography and matching skills, this is clearly becoming a family affair!
Sincerely,
Abi

Sincerely Abi, Welcome to Facebook!
Dear Reader,
I took the Facebook plunge this weekend. Sincerely Abi now has a page. I really struggled to get this going. I've been thinking about establishing my shop on Facebook for a month or so, but in some ways lacked the confidence of letting all of my friends and family know about this shop of mine. (Perhaps I've taken a soft opening to a shop to a new level.)
Late last week I finally reached two conclusions:
1. I have incredibly supportive people in my life, and I'd like them to know about this part of my life.
2. I'm very satisfied with the items that I produce for Etsy, so why be shy about sharing them?
I'm glad to have taken this step, and have thoroughly appreciated the kind feedback that has come with this embrace of a bit of social media.
Twitter next? We'll see.
Sincerely,
Abi

Bird Patterned Blocks
Dear Reader,
Under our deck there is a nest. This nest has housed baby Robins each spring for the past two years, and I am already hopeful of the return of these beautiful blue eggs to the nest (and the sweet baby birds that follow.) In the meantime, I have prepared a new set of blocks for the shop with brightly patterned birds on one of the sides. Enjoy!
Sincerely,
Abi

The ducks are back!
Dear Reader,
I have just added a fresh set of alphabet and duck patterned blocks to the shop. I love the colors and patterns in the set, but my favorite side of each block is the adorable ducks. Fun and spring-like! (Are you finding a trend? I am. Perhaps my choice of block patterns will somehow influence the start of spring. Hmm.)
Sincerely,
Abi
Blue Bird Patterned Blocks
Dear Reader,
A snow day at home has given me the opportunity to prepare another new set of blocks. The hopes of spring continue with adding a blue bird pattern to the collection. You may find the set in the shop!
And, good news, groundhogs seem to suggest that warmer weather may actually come!
Sincerely,
Abi
Cherry Patterned Blocks
Dear Reader,
With blizzard warnings in effect, I'm choosing to embrace cheerful patterns that give me hope that spring will come! This latest set is a favorite of mine, given many childhood memories in a place in Wisconsin that specializes in cherries! Now, I also call home the state which includes the Cherry Capital. The blocks are listed in the shop! Enjoy!
Sincerely,
Abi
P.S. Any hope that the groundhog will even make an appearance tomorrow in the midst of a snowstorm?
New Packaging
Dear Reader,
I have been on the hunt for good patterned block packaging for a long time now. I've intentionally tried to make these blocks environmentally conscious, and so I wanted the packaging to reflect that effort. I shopped around in stores and online. I ordered kraft boxes which were a dimensional disaster (but were fortunately able to be donated so they were not a waste!) I came across some take-out boxes made of recycled materials. Perfect. I love finding packaging that is a bit unexpected. And in an effort to make a snug fit for the blocks to be shipped, I added kraft shreds (also made of recycled materials.)
I have included some photos of the result below. I am excited to have found the ideal finishing touch to the blocks that creates an all-around eco-friendly choice. Check! Woo hoo!

Abi

Seaside Patterned Blocks
Dear Reader,
Oh how these blocks make me look forward to springtime! The bright colors and patterns rich with references to life by the shore seem to be teasing me into getaway wishes. And I love the banner effect with this set, but, even more, the vintage images of children at play! I just listed this seaside patterned set in the shop. Enjoy!
Sincerely,
Abi
Handwriting Patterned Blocks
Dear Reader,
I hope Monday is agreeing with you! I accomplished at least one of my weekend goals as this new set of handwriting patterned blocks is in the shop. I am working on a few more sets that should be completed soon. With fabulous patterned papers, the possibilities are endless!
Sincerely,
Abi
Transportation Blocks
Dear Reader,
Another new set of blocks - transportation themed! - just hit the shop. Crafting is such a wonderful outlet for cold January days. More ideas are in motion.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Abi
Road Trip Blocks
Dear Reader,
I just added these road trip patterned blocks to my shop. This new item makes me want to point to a place on the map and head out. Then, I remember that it is January. I think that sometime this spring a road trip would be in order.
Sincerely,
Abi

Business Cards
Dear Reader,
I decided to take the plunge and order some business cards last week (after trying to just make do with my first few Etsy sales.) The small package arrived in the mail this week, and I love how the cards turned out. I debated a DIY attempt and am really happy that I didn't do that. Here they are...

Alphabet and Duck Patterned Blocks...
Dear Reader,
I found the October Afternoon "Ducks in a Row," and knew that these cheery patterns needed to be applied to a set of blocks. And now they are. Enjoy!

Spare Moments
Dear Reader,
I'm so sorry to have been off the radar for a few days. I have been spending my spare moments working on some new blocks. I added three sets to the shop moments ago, and I have a few more sets in process. These are really fun to make. It's kind of addicting, actually.
I hope that the extra hour of sleep last night agreed with you, and have a lovely start to the week.
Sincerely,
Abi
P.S. Pictures of the new blocks included below.
